This Idol is a Second item.
what does this mean? It means that the Idol you are purchasing here, while being brand new in box, had some flaws with it and we cannot sell as one of our standard Plated Shiny Idols at $139.99. What does flaws mean? While inspecting these Idols upon check in we found several that had defects in manufacturing. However slight these were we could not sell as the standard product as they are flawed. There were various types of flaws across the whole number of these idols. These Flaws are very slight on some and on other very noticible. Some only have one type of Flaw and others have more. They range from a slight dimple here and there, some slight pitting, the plating did not cover in deep areas of inside mouth arms and legs it is Silver. The Plating wrinkled a bit in some spots. We are offering these to you at below cost in order to give you chance to get a $139.99 version with defects at a much discounted price even significantly less than the Regular Idol version which is $79.99. Once received you can determine yourself if the defects really do not bother you, Refinish and repaint Gold to be like a regular Idol or try to repair defects. For obvious reasons, once bought there is no returns on these specific items. We will allow upgrades and trade ups if you wish. Also we will just pick from the next case in order and send you the next Idol in line. We will not cherry pick through box. That is why the price is so low. Even at this Second quality it is a great piece and at this price these will not last long. We only have 25 to sell so do not wait to long.
This is one of the most reconizable collectable pieces in the world and is a must for any serious collector!!
From the famous film Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Starring: Harrison Ford, Screenplay by: George Lucas and Directed by: Steven Spielberg, This is a replica of the famous Aztec/ Mayan Idol that was seen in the opening sequence in the film. This replica casting was made out of a mold cast from a original prop. It is made out of a very durable Poly Resin material, has a plated Shiny Plated Gold Finish applied and weighs almost 3 Pounds. It stands approximately 7.5 inches tall and is about 4.25 inches wide by 5 inches deep.
Our original Prop that the mold was made from was obtained directly from Elstree Studios where all the props were made.
The original props (there were 14 as I was told), were inspired by Inca and PreColumbian Art. The female figure was designed with a horrific countenance to heighten the suspense as Indy approaches the golden relic. When Speilberg first sketched an image of the Idol he scribbled the note; "statue seems to be watching, cursing his every step.
