The original 19-foot-long black, bubble-topped car used in the 1960s "Batman" TV show sold sat auction Saturday. The Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. in Scottsdale, Ariz., revealed the selling price but says the winning bidder has not been disclosed.

The car's owner - auto customizer George Barris, of Los Angeles - transformed a one - a - kind 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car into the sleek crime-fighting machine. It boasted lasers and a "Batphone" and could lay down smoke screens and oil slicks.

The iconic car was used by Adam West who starred as the Caped Crusader and by Burt Ward, his sidekick Robin known for excamations beginning with "Holy."

Barris' publicist says his client is pleased with the auction result.

Disney annouced that there is at least 3 more Star Wars films in the works in addition to Episode VII,VIII & IX!! 

There will be more Star Wars films hitting theaters over the next six years outside of the upcoming movie trilogy.
Speaking live on the cable news channel, Iger said, “There’s been speculation about stand-alone films that are in development, and I can confirm to you today that, in fact, we are working on a few stand-alone films…. Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films that derive from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga. So, we still plan to make Star Wars VII, VIII andXI roughly over a six-year period of time starting in 2015, but there are going to be a few other films released in that period of time, too.”

Mention of a Lawrence Kasdan-helmed spin-off may be the most exciting part of the news for some; the screenwriter of both The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi (not to mention Raiders of The Lost Ark) was known to be consulting on the new trilogy, the first movie of which is currently being written by Michael Arndt, but the prospect of him tackling a Star Wars movie by himself – or, co-writing with X-Men: First Class and Jumper writer Kinberg – is potentially a very good thing indeed.

It’s worth noting that these standalone movies — which may or may not include a rumored film focused on Yoda — will mark the first live-action “spin-off” movies from Star Wars‘ main series intended for theater release in Lucasfilm’s entire history. Earlier live-action spin-offs The Ewok Adventure (A.K.A.Caravan of Courage) and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor were made for television, although both were released to movie theaters outside the U.S.

The mystery and question was always will it continue to be hot? After all it was 36 years ago when it first hit the screens in 1977. I guess our question was answered today with a positive "YES," For at least ten years or so at least. For us "Collectaholics" that is great news! That means we can even go deeper into the void and we now can be justified in spending large sums of our money on vintage AFA graded action figures, Real Props and High End Replicas all having to do with the holy grail of SC-FI films.

Our advice at Reel Art is to invest your money on the Vintage Toys, Real Props and High End Replicas. They are very Rare and hold their value very well. They also have seen a huge increase in value over the years. Also you are better off in these items than the newer Action Figure type items as they make tons of newer ones and they are just not Rare. It will always be the Vintage Stuff, Real Props and High End Replicas that will hold their value simply because they are only available in limited numbers and that quantity gets less and less every year.

We have just bought some Real Prop Death Star and Ewok fur pieces. Both are nicely framed and reasonably priced. We also have several action figures and replicas for sale and recently made a large investment of AFA graded action figures. We are currently in the process of listing them on our site at Star Wars at Reel Art if you do not see them now check back later.

At one point, George Lucas had planned the character of Han Solo to be a huge green-skinned monster with no nose and gills. Then Lucas changed the idea of Han Solo to a black human. He auditioned several black actors and even musicians (including Billy Dee Williams) until finally settling on Glynn Turman. But after this he decided to make the role white. Kurt Russell, Nick Nolte, Christopher Walken, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino,Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Robert Englund, Sylvester Stallone, John Travolta and Perry King were all candidates for the role of Han Solo. George Lucas also wanted to stay away from any actors he had previously used in his films. James Caan,Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro and Burt Reynolds turned down the role. Harrison Ford(who had played Bob Falfa in Lucas's American Graffiti) read the part of Han Solo for screen tests of other characters but wasn't originally considered for the part. During these tests Lucas realized Ford was perfect for the role. George Lucas based the character of Han Solo on his friend, director Francis Ford Coppola.

A Jihadist group, is calling on Egyptians to destroy the country's Pyramids and the Sphinx!

 

Al-Gohari, a member of a Salafi jihadist group, said he wants these antiquities demolished, just as Prophet Mohammed destroyed the idols he found upon his conquest of Mecca.
He likened the Egyptian landmarks to the Buddha statues that were demolished in Afghanistan. Al-Gohari also equated those who work in the tourism sector to those who work "in prostitution and debauchery" and demanded that the tourism ministry be abolished.
